The ceremony of launching the Mauritanian Libraries Portal was held at the headquarter of King Abdul Aziz Public Library in Riyadh on April 27, 2016 evening. This ceremony was sponsored by Abdul Aziz Faysal Ibn Abdul Rahman Ibn Moamar, the general supervisor of King Abdul Aziz Public Library, and Seedi Ibn Salem, the Mauritanian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The speech of the general supervisor of the library was introduced, whereas, he praised the role of the library in serving the Arabic culture and distributing it all over the world as well as its distinguished role in enforcing bonds of cooperation between all Arab states through its pioneered project "the Arabic Union Catalog". He also indicated to the importance of the Mauritanian Libraries Portal in providing treasured knowledge of Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the Arab reader and researcher. Subsequently, the Mauritanian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research gave a speech and expressed his gratitude for the support and help that King Abdul Aziz Public Library offers to achieve the Mauritanian Libraries Portal. He also added that this initiative resembles a beginning of a fruitful and constructive cooperation between the Mauritanian libraries and the Saudi libraries. The minister also pointed out to the importance of the Mauritanian heritage and culture which will be considered a qualitative addition to the AUC database.
